Prior to joining PCHC in 2019, David provided primary care for a diverse patient population in community health centers in Rhode Island. David is committed to working with marginalized and underserved communities with a particular interest in homeless, LGBT healthcare, and substance abuse disorders. David is also interested in educating new nurse practitioners. In his free time, David enjoys exploring contemporary and conceptual art, punk rock music, and the semiotics of video games. David lives with his grumble of pugs.

Dr. Zein Farhat earned his Bachelor of Sciences degree from the American University of Beirut in Lebanon; and his medical degree from University of Balamand, School of Medicine in Lebanon. Dr. Farhat completed his Family and Community Medicine Residency program at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland where he was Chief Resident and a member of the Family Medicine Residency Educational committee. Prior to his residency, Dr. Farhat completed a Public Health Fellowship at the department of Pharmaceutical Health Services Research with the University of Maryland, School of Pharmacy. Dr. Farhat joined PCHC in 2019. In his free time, Zein enjoys traveling, swimming and playing soccer and spending time with his family.

He completed his residency at the Mayo Hospital and post-graduate training at the London University and National Health Service Hospitals in England. Dr. Malik completed fellowships at University of Connecticut School of Medicine, Hartford Hospital and St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT. He studied at Harvard School of Public Health earning his Master in Public Health and was Visiting Scholar at Harvard University. Dr. Malik has held academic appointments at University of Connecticut, Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York and Brown University, where he still teaches and mentors medical students. Dr. Malik joined PCHC in 2012 and sees patients at PCHC North Main. He enjoys meeting and listening to interesting people who provoke original thought.

Pervez Khatib earned his Doctor of Medicine from Sindh Medical College, University of Karachi and his Family Medicine degree at the College of Physicians and Surgeons both in Karachi, Pakistan. After several years practicing family medicine in Pakistan, Dr. Khatib completed his residency at Stony Brook University/SUNY and Southside Hospital in Bayshore, New York. Dr. Khatib joined PCHC in 1997. Dr. Khatib is a Fellow of American Academy of Family Physicians and an active member and past board member of Rhode Island Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Khatib is a Clinical Assistant Professor with Brown University’s Department of Family Medicine and recipient of multiple teaching awards. His special interest is spirituality and medicine. Dr. Khatib is involved in the local Muslim community and is chairman of Zumratul Jannat Mosque in Providence. Dr. Khatib is married with two sons and in his free time he enjoys playing cricket and hockey.

Prior to nursing, Grace received her Bachelor of Science in Microbiology at University of Ibadan in Nigeria. Grace is bilingual, fluent in her native Nigerian language of Yoruba. When not working, she loves cooking and trying new recipes, as well as traveling to enjoy new experiences.

Dr. Jaai Deshpande received her medical degree from Kasturba Medical College Manipal University in India, and completed her Family Medicine Residency, at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan. During her residency, Dr. Deshpande was an adjunct faculty member with Michigan State University, and a member of the Michigan Academy of Family Physicians’ Advocacy team for underserved communities and patients of minority communities. Dr. Deshpande speaks English, Hindi and Marathi. She recently moved to Rhode Island to join PCHC. In her free time, Dr. Deshpande enjoys traveling, visiting art and science museums, hiking, musical theatre and LGBTQIA+ health advocacy.

Jennifer Belfry received her Bachelor of Arts in Asian and Middle Eastern Studies from Dartmouth College, and both her RN and MS, Family Nurse Practitioner from Columbia University in New York. Prior to joining PCHC, Jenny worked as a Family Nurse Practitioner for community based clinics in New York City, South Bronx and Harlem. She has specialty care experience with HIV/AIDS management and Hepatitis C treatment. Jenny also worked for a sports injury practice focusing on patient mobility and function without opioids. When she’s not working, Jenny enjoys running, hiking and cooking.

In addition to his primary care practice, Dr. Abroguena is PCHC’s Associate Medical Director of Clinical Informatics and the lead physician at PCHC Randall Square. In his free time, Dr. Abroguena loves to cook, run and travel.

Dr. Jennifer Raney earned her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Williams College; Doctor of Medicine from Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University; and completed her family practice residency at Brown University. Dr. Raney leads PCHC’s Nurse Practitioner Residency with 16+ years of educational and clinical experience in diverse settings including academic, community health centers, private practice, in-patient care, after-hours urgent care, addiction medicine, and student health clinics. She has mentored and instructed medical students, residents, and nurse practitioners in clinical education at Brown University and Boston University. Dr. Raney is committed to working with marginalized and underserved populations. Raised in Georgia, she is now a very happy New Englander who enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons, running, reading fiction, and being active outdoors.

Prior to joining PCHC in 2020, Kristen provided holistic care in Southeastern Massachusetts. Kristen is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and has a special interest in obesity medicine. She is an adjunct faculty member with the Nurse Practitioner program at Simmons College in Boston, and her passion for teaching young providers led her to PCHC’s Nurse Practitioner Residency. In her free time, Kristen enjoys travel and adventure with her family.

Dr. Suman is a graduate of the Family Medicine Residency Program at LSU Health Shreveport in Monroe, where she served as Chief Resident of Medical Education. She received her MD degree from Saba University School of Medicine in the Caribbean, Netherlands, and her Bachelor of Science degree from McMaster University in Canada, where she graduated with honors. While at LSU Health Shreveport, she served as Chief Resident for Education, and was a key member of the Program Evaluation Committee at her program. She also won several awards including the AFMRD award for excellence in patient advocacy, as well as the Resident-Teacher award. She has lived in multiple places and enjoys all seasons, so she is excited to explore New England with her dog Arty Dr. Suman is fluent in English, Hindi and is learning Spanish.

As a Clinical Assistant Professor with the Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University, Dr. Ng enjoys teaching medical students during their Family and Community Medicine rotation. She is on the provider advisory council for Reach Out and Read RI, and involved with her church and community teaching Sunday school and volunteering with a local soup kitchen. Dr. Ng is married and has twin daughters. She wakes early each morning year-round to jog three miles, and enjoys cooking, hiking and traveling.
