Roxana Rodriguez earned her Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences from Arizona State University; her Masters in Health Promotion from the University of Nevada; and her doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine from AT Still University. She completed an internship and her Internal Medicine – Pediatrics residency with University Southern California Medical Center in Los Angeles County. Dr. Rodriguez’ experience includes treating children with special needs including metabolic disease, cerebral palsy and Down syndrome. Prior to attending medical school, Dr. Rodriguez worked as a Health Educator and in Community Outreach. Dr. Rodriguez grew up in Sonora, Mexico and now she calls Rhode Island her home along with her husband and daughter.

Prior to joining PCHC in 2019, David provided primary care for a diverse patient population in community health centers in Rhode Island. David is committed to working with marginalized and underserved communities with a particular interest in homeless, LGBT healthcare, and substance abuse disorders. David is also interested in educating new nurse practitioners. In his free time, David enjoys exploring contemporary and conceptual art, punk rock music, and the semiotics of video games. David lives with his grumble of pugs.

After completing her Internal Medicine and Pediatrics residency training at the State University of New York - University at Buffalo, Dr. Clarke cared for patients at an inner-city community health center near Boston, MA. She joined PCHC in 2019. Dr. Clarke is committed to caring for both children and adults. Dr. Clarke’s clinical interests include Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) and caring for adult survivors of childhood diseases. She is first-generation Jamaican-American and is bilingual, English and Spanish. In her free time, Dr. Clarke enjoys bird-watching, kayaking and snowshoeing.

Dr. Farhat completed his Family and Community Medicine Residency program at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland where he was Chief Resident and a member of the Family Medicine Residency Educational committee. Prior to his residency, Dr. Farhat completed a Public Health Fellowship at the department of Pharmaceutical Health Services Research with the University of Maryland, School of Pharmacy. Dr. Farhat joined PCHC in 2019. In his free time, Zein enjoys traveling, swimming and playing soccer and spending time with his family.

Dr. Malik completed fellowships at University of Connecticut School of Medicine, Hartford Hospital and St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT. He studied at Harvard School of Public Health earning his Master in Public Health and was Visiting Scholar at Harvard University. Dr. Malik has held academic appointments at University of Connecticut, Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York and Brown University, where he still teaches and mentors medical students. Dr. Malik joined PCHC in 2012 and sees patients at PCHC North Main. He enjoys meeting and listening to interesting people who provoke original thought.

Pervez Khatib earned his Doctor of Medicine from Sindh Medical College, University of Karachi and his Family Medicine degree at the College of Physicians and Surgeons both in Karachi, Pakistan. After several years practicing family medicine in Pakistan, Dr. Khatib completed his residency at Stony Brook University/SUNY and Southside Hospital in Bayshore, New York. Dr. Khatib joined PCHC in 1997. Dr. Khatib is a Fellow of American Academy of Family Physicians and an active member and past board member of Rhode Island Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Khatib is a Clinical Assistant Professor with Brown University’s Department of Family Medicine and recipient of multiple teaching awards. His special interest is spirituality and medicine. Dr. Khatib is involved in the local Muslim community and is chairman of Zumratul Jannat Mosque in Providence. Dr. Khatib is married with two sons and in his free time he enjoys playing cricket and hockey.

When not working, she loves cooking and trying new recipes, as well as traveling to enjoy new experiences.

During her residency, Dr. Deshpande was an adjunct faculty member with Michigan State University, and a member of the Michigan Academy of Family Physicians’ Advocacy team for underserved communities and patients of minority communities. Dr. Deshpande speaks English, Hindi and Marathi. She recently moved to Rhode Island to join PCHC. In her free time, Dr. Deshpande enjoys traveling, visiting art and science museums, hiking, musical theatre and LGBTQIA+ health advocacy.

Prior to joining PCHC, Jenny worked as a Family Nurse Practitioner for community based clinics in New York City, South Bronx and Harlem. She has specialty care experience with HIV/AIDS management and Hepatitis C treatment. Jenny also worked for a sports injury practice focusing on patient mobility and function without opioids. When she’s not working, Jenny enjoys running, hiking and cooking.

In his free time, Dr. Abroguena loves to cook, run and travel.

In addition, Dr. Patel studied Anesthesiology at the College of Physicians and Surgeons in Mumbai, India, and was a senior resident in Anesthesiology at L.T.M.G. College and Hospital in Mumbai. Dr. Patel practiced family medicine at Providence Community Health Centers from 2009 to 2011. She left to work in India at Fortis Hospital in Mumbai for five years before rejoining PCHC in 2016. Dr. Patel enjoys traveling and interacting with people from various cultures.

Christine is fluent in Spanish. Throughout her career, Christine has worked as a nurse practitioner with community health centers in Queens, Bronx and Brooklyn, New York. Christine’s clinical focus has been adult primary care, HIV, hepatitis C, substance use disorders and women’s health. She joined PCHC in 2019. In her free time, Christine enjoys yoga,traveling and spending time with family.

Karen Ng earned her Bachelor of Science degree in both Sociology and Biology from State University of New York at Binghamton and Medical Degree from SUNY Syracuse College of Medicine. Dr. Ng completed her family practice residency at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Indiana. She joined PCHC in 2001. As a Clinical Assistant Professor with the Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University, Dr. Ng enjoys teaching medical students during their Family and Community Medicine rotation. She is on the provider advisory council for Reach Out and Read RI, and involved with her church and community teaching Sunday school and volunteering with a local soup kitchen. Dr. Ng is married and has twin daughters. She wakes early each morning year-round to jog three miles, and enjoys cooking, hiking and traveling.

Dr. Natasha Bica received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from University of Texas at Austin, and her MD from New York Medical College. She completed her family medicine residency and internship with Loyola University-Cook County in Illinois, and a Women’s Health Fellowship with East Carolina University’s Brody School of Medicine. Dr. Bica also studied at Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara in Mexico. Dr. Bica is board certified in Family Medicine and practiced as an ER physician, hospice physician and in urgent care prior to joining PCHC in 2013. She speaks fluent Spanish and took French in college. When not working, Dr. Bica enjoys running and staying fit, cooking, painting and playing piano. She also fosters homeless dogs and finds it very rewarding.

She practiced as a Registered Nurse and then as a Family Nurse Practitioner for several years before joining PCHC in 2018. Tenesha enjoys instructing undergraduate nurses and graduate nurse practitioner students in primary care and prior to her nursing career she taught high school Biology. Tenesha loves her work and is happy to have the opportunity to give back to the community teaching and caring for others. When she is not working, Tenesha enjoys reading, going to the gym and spending time with friends and family.

Prior to joining PCHC in 2018, Dr. Duarte was the Assistant Program Director for the Brown University Family Medicine Residency and she also taught medical students. In her free time, she enjoys being outdoors and volunteering with a local soccer club.

Prior to joining PCHC’s Nurse Practitioner Residency in 2019, Nelsy worked as an Emergency Department nurse at The Miriam Hospital and other area hospitals. Nelsy has lived in Rhode Island since her family emigrated from the Dominican Republic in the ‘80s. She grew up in Providence and is a former PCHC patient. Nelsy is bilingual and embraces the opportunity to work with the local Hispanic community. In her free time, Nelsy enjoys exploring RI’s culinary cuisine. Nelsy is involved in a fitness program designed to build the mind and body. She is adventurous and hopes to travel to all the continents of the world with her daughter at her side.

Prior to joining PCHC’s Nurse Practitioner Residency program in 2019, and deciding on a career in primary care, Courtney had an extensive nursing career. She worked at Women & Infants Hospital and Kent County Hospital in a variety of nursing roles including intensive care, neonatal intensive care, post-operative care and oncology. Courtney grew up in Rhode Island and is now raising her family across the street from her childhood home. When she’s not working or caring for her family, Courtney sits on the board for The Partnership to Reduce Cancer in Rhode Island. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and shopping.

After obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain College of Nursing, Takeysha Duarte earned her Master of Science in Nursing with a specialty in Family Practice from Endicott College. In 2018, Takeysha joined the first class of nurse practitioners in PCHC’s Nurse Practitioner fellowship program. Previously, she spent more than a decade in nursing at Caritas St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Boston, providing care for critical care medical and surgical patients on the Intensive Care and Stepdown Units. Takeysha enjoys working with patients who bring both diverse diagnosis and background to the health center. Takeysha enjoys cooking, traveling, and exploring Rhode Island’s wonderful restaurants.
