Medical Staff

Dr. Altuḡ Köymen, received his Bachelor of Science, Magna Cum Laude in Chemical Engineering, at Carnegie Mellon University. He received his Doctor of Medicine from Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Köymen completed his Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at George Washington University. He has studied national socialized healthcare systems in The Netherlands and Turkey. Dr. Köymen joined PCHC in 2006. He has been the Chair of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department since 2020. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Warren Alpert School of Medicine.

El Dr. Altuḡ Köymen, recibió una Licenciatura en Ciencias, Magna Cum Laude en Ingeniería Química, en la Universidad Carnegie Mellon. Recibió su Doctorado en Medicina de la Washington University en St. Louis. Dr. Köymen completó su residencia en Obstetricia y Ginecología en la Universidad George Washington. Dr. Anne Murray, received her Bachelor of Arts, Magna Cum Laude in Women’s Studies, from Harvard University; and Doctor of Medicine from University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine. Dr. Murray completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at Women and Infants Hospital in Rhode Island. She also studied at San Francisco State University and the School for International Training in Kathmandu, Nepal. Dr. Murray joined PCHC Central in 2007. She is a member of PCHC’s Diversity and Inclusion committee with a particular interest in health equity and racial and social justice work. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Warren Alpert School of Medicine. When she’s not working, Dr. Murray enjoys spending time with her family, hiking outdoors with the dog and travelling.

Dr. Jenny David received her Bachelor’s degree from Connecticut College, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the University of New England, and completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island. Dr. David joined PCHC in 2019, bringing additional experience as a Doula and Women’s Health educator to enhance her exceptional patient care. Dr. David is bilingual in English/Spanish and has worked as a Medical Spanish instructor. In her free time, Dr. David enjoys music – she sings and plays both the guitar and banjo. She also loves cooking, traveling and spending time with her family.

Jenny David recibió su licenciatura de Connecticut College, doctorado en medicina osteopática de la University of New England, y completó su residencia en Obstetricia y Ginecología en la Facultad de Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University y el Women & Infants Hospital de Rhode Island. La Dra. David se unió a PCHC en 2019, brindando experiencia adicional como educadora de Doula y Salud de la Mujer para mejorar su excepcional atención al paciente. La Dra. Jennifer Sunderland received both her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Nursing, Nurse-Midwifery program, from University of Rhode Island. Prior to joining PCHC in 2018, Jennifer worked as a labor and delivery nurse with Newport Hospital birthing center and later practiced as a Certified Nurse-Midwife, with both hospital and private practices throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island, providing care for routine and high-risk obstetrical and gynecological patients. When not working, Jennifer enjoys gardening, cooking, reading and spending time with her family.

Jennifer Sunderland recibió tanto su Licenciatura en Ciencias como su Maestría en Ciencias en Enfermería del Programa de Enfermera-Partera, de la Universidad of Rhode Island. Antes de unirse a PCHC en 2018, Jennifer trabajó como enfermera de parto en el centro de parto de Newport Hospital y luego ejerció como Enfermera Partera certificada brindando atención de rutina y de alto riesgo a pacientes obstétricos y ginecológicos en hospitales y practicas privadas a través de Massachusetts y Rhode Island. Cuando no está trabajando, Jennifer disfruta de la jardinería, cocinar, leer y pasar tiempo con su familia.

Stephanie Avila, a Certified Nurse Midwife and Family Nurse Practitioner, received her BA in Psychology from George Washington University, her BS and MS in Nursing, with specialty in midwifery, from Columbia University and her Family Nurse Practitioner certification from University of Rhode Island. While on a traveling fellowship in Quito, Ecuador, Stephanie did postpartum teaching and worked on family planning educational materials at Quito’s public maternity hospital. Stephanie was Director of Maternal and Child Health Programs for the National Council of La Raza. Prior to joining PCHC in 2017, Stephanie worked as Nurse Midwife and Family Nurse Practitioner. In her free time, Stephanie enjoys physical challenges like triathlons and the Save the Bay Swim, as well as hiking, knitting, and baking.

Stephanie Avila, Enfermera Partera Certificada y Enfermera Familiar, recibió su Licenciatura en Psicología de la Universidad George Washington, su Licenciatura y Maestría en Enfermería, con especialidad en partería, de la Universidad de Columbia y su certificación de Enfermera Practicante de la Universidad de Rhode Island. Mientras estaba en una beca de viaje en Quito, Ecuador, Stephanie hizo enseñanza posparto y trabajó en materiales educativos de planificación familiar en el hospital de maternidad público de Quito. Stephanie fue directora de programas de salud maternoinfantil del Consejo Nacional de La Raza. Antes de unirse a PCHC en 2017, Stephanie trabajó como enfermera partera y enfermera de familia. En su tiempo libre, Stephanie disfruta de desafíos físicos como los triatlones y Save the Bay Swim, además de practicar senderismo, tejer y hornear.

Dr. Fatima Jibrel received her medical degree from Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine in Rochester, MI. She completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Michigan, where she received Awards for Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology as well as Urogynecology. She currently is in a fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at Brown University/Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island. Dr. Jibrel is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, American Urogynecologic Society, and American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists. She has volunteered as a medical preceptor and educator, as well as a health advocate. Dr. Jibrel enjoys travel, yoga, design, and architecture.

La Dra. Fatima Jibrel recibió su título de médico de la Facultad de Medicina William Beaumont de la Oakland University en Rochester, MI. Completó una residencia en Obstetricia y Ginecología en la Universidad de Michigan, donde recibió Premios a la Excelencia en Ginecología Mínimamente Invasiva, así como en Uroginecología. Actualmente está en una beca en Medicina Pélvica Femenina y Cirugía Reconstructiva en Brown University / Women & Infants Hospital de Rhode Island. La Dra. Jibrel es miembro del Colegio Americano de Obstetras y Ginecólogos, la Sociedad Americana de Uroginecología y la Asociación Americana de Laparoscopistas Ginecológicos. Se ha ofrecido como voluntaria como preceptora médica y educadora, así como defensora de la salud. La Dra. Jibrel disfruta de los viajes, el yoga, el diseño y la arquitectura.

Dr. Libertad Flores completed a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish from Cornell University, a Master of Public Health in Health Policy and Management from Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, and completed both her medical degree and residency at Brown University. Dr. Flores joined Providence Community Health Centers after practicing general Ob/Gyn at Women & Infants Hospital and Blackstone Community Health Centers. Dr. Flores is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University, where she has been recognized with several teaching awards. She has numerous peer-reviewed publications, abstracts, mentoring, and presentations to her credit. She has a particular interest in promoting reproductive justice and inclusion in medicine, and is a member of the Rhode Island Foundation’s Equity Leadership Initiative. In her free time, Dr. Flores enjoys exploring Rhode Island with her family through day hikes and backyard vegetable gardening.

La Dra. Libertad Flores se formó como médico y realizó su residencia en la Universidad de Brown. Obtuvo una Maestría en Salud Pública en Política y Administración de la Salud de la Facultad de Salud Pública Mailman de la Universidad de Columbia. Asimismo, cuenta con una licenciatura en español por parte de la Universidad de Cornell. Antes de formar parte de Providence Community Health Centers, practicó obstetricia y ginecología general en el Hospital Women & Infants y en el Blackstone Valley Community Health Center. La Dra. Flores es Profesora Asistente Clínica en el Departamento de Obstetricia y Ginecología de la Escuela de Medicina Warren Alpert de la Universidad de Brown, donde ha sido reconocida con varios premios de enseñanza. Ha realizado numerosas publicaciones, informes, tutorías y presentaciones. Megan Charette received her MSN as a Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of Rhode Island. She received her BSN from Fairfield University and BA in Biology from The University of Connecticut. Megan has more than 15 years of experience working as a nurse practitioner and registered nurse in a variety of inpatient and outpatient clinical settings focused on oncology care and women’s health. She is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, where she is a member. Megan, an adjunct professor in the School of Nursing at Rhode Island College, is a member of the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nursing and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Megan enjoys traveling, cooking, outdoor activities, and spending time with her family.

La enfermera Megan Charette, recibió su Maestría (MSN por sus siglas en inglés) como Enfermera Familiar Especializada de la University of Rhode Island. Recibió su Licenciatura en Ciencias de la Enfermería (BSN por sus siglas en inglés) de Fairfield University y una Licenciatura en Biología (BA por sus siglas en inglés ) de la University of Connecticut. Megan tiene más de 15 años de experiencia trabajando en varias áreas clínicas como enfermera especializada y enfermera registrada con pacientes hospitalizados y ambulatorios, enfocada en la atención oncológica y la salud de la mujer. Está acreditada como Enfermera de Familia Especializada a través de la American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, donde es miembro. Megan, una profesora auxiliar en la Escuela de Enfermería de la Rhode Island College, es miembro de la Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nursing and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Dr. Beth Cronin received BA in Biology from Amherst College and her MD from the University of Vermont College of Medicine. Dr. Cronin completed her residency at Women & Infants Hospital Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a fellowship with the hospital’s Division of Gynecologic Oncology. As an attending physician with Women & Infants, Dr. Cronin was Co-Director of the Women’s Dysplasia program and Director Pelvic Pain Program. Dr. Cronin has experience with complicated obstetrical and gynecological issues as well as performing surgical procedures. She is a leading proponent for providing better care for the LGBTQ community and has presented locally and nationally on best practices in transgender health. Dr. Cronin enjoys cooking, gardening, and spending time with her partner and two daughters.

La Dra. Beth Cronin recibió una Licenciatura en Biología de Amherst College y su Doctorado de la University of Vermont College of Medicine. La Dra. Cronin completó su residencia en el Departamento de Obstetricia y Ginecología en el Hospital Women & Infants y una beca con la División de Oncología Ginecológica en este mismo hospital. Como médico asistente con Women & Infants, la Dra. Cronin fue Co-Directora del programa de displasia de la mujer y Directora del Programa de Dolor Pélvico. La Dra. Cronin es altamente competente con problemas obstétricos y ginecológicos complicados, así como al realizar procedimientos quirúrgicos. Ella es una de las principales proponentes para brindar mejor atención a la comunidad LGBTQ y ha presentado a nivel local y nacional las mejores prácticas en salud transgénero. La Dra. Cronin disfruta cocinar, cultivar su huerto y pasar tiempo con su pareja y sus dos hijas.

Dr. Emily White received her Bachelor’s degree from George Washington University and her Medical degree from State University of New York at Brooklyn College of Medicine. She also received an Executive Masters in Public Health from Columbia University. Dr. White completed her residency in ObGyn at Brown University, Women and Infant’s Hospital. Following this Dr. White worked at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital and Langone Hospital, New York University. She was recently promoted to Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
As the Chair of the Rhode Island section of American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), Dr. White is very active in advocating for women’s health both nationally and here in Rhode Island. Dr. White joined PCHC in 2012. In her free time, Dr White enjoys biking and travelling.

La Dra. Emily White recibió su licenciatura de la George Washington University y su título de médico de la New York University en la Facultad de Medicina de Brooklyn. Tara Capuano is a women’s health Nurse Practitioner who has been with Providence Community Health Centers since 2018. Prior to joining our team, she worked at Women & Infants Hospital for more than 15 years, primarily as a Nurse Practitioner in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology. Tara received her MS in Nursing from the University of Texas, graduating Summa Cum Laude. She received her BS in Nursing from Georgetown University.
A member of the National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women's Health, Tara is a teaching associate at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. In her free time, Tara enjoys reading, traveling, and Bonnet Shores Beach in the summer. She can also be seen either at a hockey rink or baseball field watching her son play, and visiting NYC where her daughter attends college. 

Tara Capuano es una Enfermera Especializada de salud de la mujer que ha estado trabajando en Providence Community Health Centers desde el año 2018. Antes de unirse a nuestro equipo, ella trabajó en Women & Infants Hospital durante más de 15 años, principalmente como enfermera especializada en el Departamento de Obstetricia y Ginecología. Tara recibió su Maestría en Enfermería de la University of Texas,, graduándose Summa Cum Laude. Recibió su licenciatura en Enfermería de la Georgetown University. Es Miembro de la  National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women's Health. Tara es profesora asociada en la Escuela de Medicina Warren Alpert de la Brown University.
En su tiempo libre, Tara disfruta leer, viajar y visitar la playa Bonnet Shores en verano. También se le puede ver en una pista de hockey o en un campo de béisbol viendo jugar a su hijo, y visitando a Nueva York, donde su hija asiste a la universidad. 

Dr. E. VyVy Trinh completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara in Santa Clara, CA. She earned her medical degree from the Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University and holds a Masters in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
She is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She serves on the Board of Directors for Camp RYSE, a literacy-focused summer day camp for refugee youth in Providence, RI that she has been deeply involved with since 2013. In her spare time, she makes comics and zines, eats noodles, and goes on adventures with her husband Paul.

La Dra. E. VyVy Trinh completó su residencia en Obstetricia y Ginecología en Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara en Santa Clara, CA. Obtuvo su título de Médico en la Facultad de Medicina Warren Alpert de la Brown University y tiene una Maestría en Educación de la Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Es miembro del Colegio Americano de Obstetricia y Ginecología. Es miembro de la Junta Directiva de Camp RYSE, un campamento de verano centrado en la alfabetización para jóvenes refugiados en Providence, Rhode Island, con el que ha estado profundamente involucrada desde el año 2013.
En su tiempo libre, hace cómics y fanzines, come fideos y vive aventuras con su esposo Paul.
